4/26/1968 - The Armstrong School District Board last night tentatively adopted a $9,330,737.36 budget requiring no increase in the local tax structure. Superintendent C. N. Hanner attributed no tax increase to the anticipated additional revenue from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The budget equals $749 per student.
4/26/1968 - Burrell Construction Co of New Kensington plans to start work on June 3 on relocation of Route 56-66 adjacent Apollo Plaza - good news for the Apollo Parking Authority. Preliminary plans for the parking lot at the shopping center in the past few years will come to fulfillment. The last physical obstacle, Rubin’s Department Store, was torn down last week.
4/26/1968 - Builders reached the half-way mark of the steel framework for the 60-unit senior citizen housing project - Lee Haven Towers - in Leechburg. The building erection will cost $890,873. Pouring of concrete started yesterday. The steel and concrete structure is slated for occupancy in October.

4/26/1943 - A large crowd of Easter paraders gathered for an honor roll dedication service at 5th Street and 4th Avenue in Ford City. The honor roll contains names of 115 men and women from a four-block area between 4th and 5th Avenues who are serving their country in its military forces.
