The Apollo-Ridge School District cancelled classes for Monday, March 5, after its administration was made aware of a threatening statement made to a student via social media over the weekend.
“While the message does not specifically reference the school, we treat it with every precaution,” a notice reads as you enter the district’s website.
The website describes the cancellation as “exercising an abundance of caution.”
The closure will be for all staff and students. The Kiski Township Police Department and the Armstrong County District Attorney’s office has been notified.
“We are very appreciative of all those who have been sharing and reporting information, as we all keep student safety as our top priority,” the website posted last night.
Other closings today include the Kiddies Korner/Apollo site, and the Blackhawk School District in Beaver Falls. Administration there met with police last night to review social media threats.
