Recycling Schedule Announced for Kittanning Borough

Copies of the Recycling Guide is available free to Kittanning Borough residents. Stop in at the Borough office.

After several inquiries to the Kittanning Paper concerning recycling, Councilman David Croyle pointed Kittanning Borough residents to a Recycling Guide that is available at the Municipal Building.

The Borough’s Recycling Ordinance requires mandatory curbside collection of newspapers, office paper, magazines, circulars, and corrugated cardboard.

The collection schedule is as follows:

1st Ward - 1st Wednesday each month

2nd Ward - 2nd Wednesday each month

3rd Ward - 3rd Wednesday each month

4th Ward - 4th Wednesday each month

If residents would like to recycle more often than once per month, there is a recycling trailer at 1340 North Water Street that accepts: brown, clear, and green glass bottles and jars; aluminum cans, steel cans, #1 and #2 plastic bottles and jugs; newspapers; office paper; and magazines.

Kittanning Borough also offers pickup of grass and trimming waste every Wednesday starting in April and continuing until the first snow each season.

Trimmings and grass must be in a container or recycling bin not weighing more than 35 pounds and placed where garbage pickup is designated. Limbs and/or branched larger than 3/4-inch are not acceptable for pickup. Recycling bins are available at the Borough office.

Residents can plan to get compost in 2018 between April and October from 9:30 AM until 2:30 PM at the Compost area at Community Park. Call the Borough office at 724-543-2091 for availability.
