Wayne Township Boy Dies While Fishing

WAYNE TOWNSHIP - A nine-year-old boy died early Saturday afternoon when he fell into Mahoning Creek.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the unidentified boy was sitting on a boulder rock while fishing at the Sportsman’s Boat Launch in Wayne Township. According to the report, the boy apparently slipped and fell into the water shortly after 1PM. Individuals attempted to look for the boy, but couldn’t find him due to the water being deeper than originally thought.

When he was located, he was pulled from the water and a bystander administered CPR while the boy’s parents called for help.

The child was flown to Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

State Police stated there were no signs of foul play, and have ruled it an unfortunate accident. No other details were released.
