LOCAL SPORTS: W/K Stangs Shut-Out Hampton

The W/K Stangs (3-1) were able to bounce back after a loss in game two of the Wooden Bat Tournament at North-Hills with a 6-0 shut-out win Thursday night against Hampton.

The Stangs jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning after RBI singles from Tyler Fries, Reise Matson, Ben Vicini, and walk from Eddie Morris. After the big first inning, the Stangs struck again in the fourth inning with two runs to take a 6-0 lead which proved to be the final after seven innings.

From the mound, Ben Vicini earned the win after pitching 6 innings, striking out ten while allowing no runs before Eli Hickman closed the game in the seventh inning.

The Stangs will have a long break before their next game, but they will be at home at Worthington as they host North Allegheny with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 PM.
