Kittanning Kings Will Stay Open While Chain Closes Other Stores

Employees at the King’s Family Restaurant in the Hilltop Plaza were relieved to know their location would remain open. The parent company on Sunday announced it would close stores in Altoona, Bridgeville, Harmarville, Imperial, and Wexford. Little notice was given to the 130 employees that showed up for work yesterday. The restaurants closed at 7PM last night.

A spokesman for the restaurant chain said the 25 other area locations will remain open.

The restaurant founder, Hartley King, opened his first restaurant in 1967. However, the chain was sold two years ago to a California-based corporation who branded it a Pittsburgh tradition.
