School is continuing this week in the Karns City School District although recent water samples showed elevated levels of lead and copper.
District Superintendent Eric D. Ritzert said the results of water tests last week caused appropriate action.
“The water has been turned off where elevated levels of lead or copper were reported and bottled water is available to our students and staff,” he wrote in a letter to parents.
Ritzert said staff worked this weekend flushing pipes and changing fixtures.
The water in the schools will be tested again this week for quality.
The district operates Chicora Elementary, Sugarcreek Elementary, and the high school in Karns City.
