West Shamokin Volleyball Advances to the Division 6 Semi-Finals

The West Shamokin Wolves varsity girls volleyball team is moving on to the Semi-Finals of the Division 6 Class AA playoffs after defeating Westmont Hilltop in three straight sets.

The West Shamokin Wolves Varsity volleyball team earned a bye in the first round of the playoffs after posting an undefeated 16-0 record and on Tuesday they did not miss a step in a 3-0 victory over the West Hilltop Hilltoppers.
After the first round bye the Wolves were ready to play on Tuesday as they easily handled the Hilltoppers in the first set 25-10.
The second set however would prove more challenging for West Shamokin as the Hilltoppers would trade points with the Wolves, however this was not a trend.
The Wolves held a slight lead in the second set (11-10) before they would explode on a 14-5 run to win the second set 25-15.
The third and final set was more like the first set as the Wolves jumped out to an 8-0 lead. The Hilltoppers tried to get back into the game, but the closest the score got was 15-7. The Wolves would finished the set with a 25-14 win.
Katie Glover made it look easy yet again finishing with a game-high 16 kills. Andrea Orlosky finished with 7 kills and Olivia Fusaro had 17 assists and 4 kills.
The Wolves will host their next match on Thursday in the Division 6 Class AA Semi-Finals against the winner of Penn Cambria vs. Richmond.
