Vandergrift Man Sentenced to Jail for Distributing Porn

Tyler Zidek (Armstrong County Jail photo).
A Vandergrift man arrested in December was sentenced yesterday to serve jail time after sending pornographic images to a local teen.
Tyler Zidek, 19, was sentenced by Court of Common Pleas Judge James Panchik to serve six months to two years behind bars in the Armstrong County Jail for allegedly sending the images to a juvenile’s social media account at the beginning of November.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed, the 15-year-old male – who was not named by police – received nine photographs via Facebook. The juvenile did delete them from the social media site, but took a screen shot with his cell phone (which was used as evidence).
In an interview with police, Zidek admitted to distributing the material and pled guilty to the third-degree felony charge in court.
Zidek – reportedly a graduate of Kiski Area High School in Vandergrift – faced 15 crimes (both misdemeanor and felony in nature), including disseminating explicit sexual material to a minor, harassment and unlawful contact with a minor. However, many of them with withdrawn and the rest not processed after Zidek pled guilty in August.
It is not clear how the images were obtained by Zidek, however.
Zidek – who was also sentenced to serve 100 hours of community service, refrain from contact with the victim and undergo a urinalysis – is released on parole only upon further Order of Court.
A motion to modify the sentence has already been filed according to court documents.
