More than 100 local service agencies and higher education officials will receive an invitation later this week to attend an upcoming local transportation training session in West Kittanning.
From 9AM-Noon at Community Action Agency in West Kittanning, CommuteInfo and Town and Country Transit leaders are to give an overview of local commuting options.
Town and Country Transit General Manager Patti Lynn Baker emphasized the need for awareness.
“One of the things I really think that we need to do better is inform people about the different services we do,” Baker said. “I think people either think the only thing that we do is fixed-route transportation or shared-ride transportation – taking people to senior centers.
“Which both are wonderful things, but that’s not all we do. I think our public transportation offers a lot of different services that people might not fully understand.”
In addition to the service discussions, attendees will also be able to take a trip on one of the transit vehicles.
The training is free, but organizers request only two attendees per organization and their registration by the end of October.
