The Armstrong River Hawks varsity volleyball team was able to improve to 6-1 in section play after defeating the Plum Mustangs in three straight sets Thursday night.
The River Hawks were able to start strong and control the tempo of the first match, winning easily by a final score of 25-12, but the last two sets would prove to be more interesting - their last set in particular.
In the second set the River Hawks found themselves down 3-1 before they took a time-out. After the time out the River Hawks took control and won the set 25-17.
The final set was a back and forth battle with the River Hawks climbing back from an early six point deficit to win their third straight set 25-23.
River Hawks Head Coach Andrea Lasher was proud of her teams performance, but still knows there is work to do.
“We came out strong (in the first set) and I was hoping we would stay that way through the rest of the match. We have to earn our points and that’s something I push every year, every season and we need to do that more. Every game we play we’re trying to up our earned points and limit mistakes.”
