Little Free Library Opens at West Shamokin

A grant from the Armstrong Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees enabled West Shamokin Junior/Senior High teachers to open a Little Free Library yesterday morning.

High School English Teacher and Faculty Steward Janine Lazor and Students Jordyn Novak and Cara Cupp hosted a grand opening at the school yesterday morning.

“West Shamokin’s Little Free Library belongs to all of our students at our junior and senior high school,” Lazor said. “It is my hope that this Little Free Library will create a little more fun, encourage a little more fellowship and provide a lot of fabulous reading opportunities for our students – especially during those times when our wonderful school library is closed in the evenings, on weekends and over the holidays. We are so excited to finally have our own Little Free Library!”

More than 10 million books are shared worldwide through Little Free Libraries. Founder Todd H. Bol first gave away 30 Little Free Libraries in 2010 and the nonprofit organization has continued to multiply.

In May, there were 40,000 Little Free Library book exchanges around the world – in all 50 United States of America and in more than 70 countries.

Little Free Library hopes to grow to 100,000 libraries worldwide by the end of 2017.

Where is it (other than WSHS), when is it open, what kind of books are offered. How can students access it when the gate is locked at the entrance to the school. Details please.
