Seats are still available on a bus that will transport Armstrong County residents to and from the Farm Show in Harrisburg on Monday, January 11.

The bus will depart at 6AM from the Hilltop Plaza in East Franklin Township and is expected to return by 11PM the same day. The cost is $20 per person and there is no admission fee to the Farm Show.

Suzanne Ault Boarts, the Armstrong County 4-H Youth Development Coordinator, said there are many attractions this year since this is the 100th Anniversary.

“The Pennsylvania Farm Show is the largest agricultural exhibit in the country. It’s huge! There will be an area where you will see the chickens, the rabbits, the pigs, beef, sheep - all kinds of animals. Then you will see the horses on Monday. There will still be some draft horses there (large horses used for plowing). Then, there is another big area that is all your commodies… potato growers will be selling potato donuts and French fries; the dairy folk will have homemade milk shakes which are absolutely to die for; vegetables, mushrooms, and beekeepers will be selling honey; there’s pulled pork and beef briquette. Then there is another area where you will see FFA (Future Farmers of America) displays from across the state along with tractor companies and other farming equipment.”

Interested persons wishing to ride the bus should call the Penn State Extension office immediately at 724-548-3447 to make your reservation.
