Adrian Woman Killed in Vehicle Crash
by Jonathan Weaver
An Adrian woman was killed Friday morning after striking a tri-axle coal truck head-on.
According to East Franklin Township Police Sgt. William Evans, at about 8:40AM, Tara Johns, 26, was driving her 2002 Ford Taurus north on Tarrtown Road before she crossed the center line and into the path of a 2013 Peterbilt, owned by Krevel Trucking of Clymer, and operated by Christopher Newlin of Penn Run, Pa.
While Newlin was not injured, Johns was killed.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene.
Sgt. Evans was assisted at the scene by East Franklin, Applewold and Kittanning Township firefighters, along with the Armstrong County Sheriff’s Department, and Kittanning and West Kittanning police officers.
According to Coroner Brian Myers, Johns was not wearing a seatbelt, and died due to blunt force trauma to the abdomen and thorax.
Toxicology reports are pending, but an autopsy will not be performed.
Myers said the incident happened about an eighth of a mile from PJ Greco’s metal salvage station.

look at the truck drivers history, they always hog the road and speed, are coal trucks even allowed on that road. I’ll bet it wasn’t her fault.
