Argument Turns Violent in Parks Township

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Vandergrift teen after an incident late yesterday afternoon in Parks Township.

According to Trooper Hildebrand at the Pennsylvania State Police, Dominic Albert Hayward, 18, got into a verbal altercation regarding Hayward getting a ride to work on the upcoming Monday morning. The verbal altercation escalated when Hayward broke a wooden chair in the kitchen of the residence of Larry E. Suman and Tonya S. Brantner - both 43 years old - at 1152 Washington Street, Parks Township, then left. He returned approximately 15 minutes later with a 13-inch wooden handled hatchet. Hayward made several verbal threats to Suman and Brantner while damaging two vehicles in the driveway of the residence by smashing the right rear hubcap and rear bumper of one vehicle and denting and scratching the other vehicle under the driver side mirror. Suman kept yelling at the defendant to stop, but Hayward became more agitated according to the report, and threated Suman and Brantner with the hatchet. Hayward then threw the hatchet at Brantner, missing her and striking the house. Damage was also done to the window portion of a door around the side of the residence.

Hayward fled the scene on foot and is said to be operating a red-colored 1990 Ford F-250 truck.

A Criminal Complaint was prepared by Trooper Hildebrand that charges Hayward with making terroristic threats, simple assault, criminal mischief, and harassment. An arrest warrant was obtained with the on-call Magisterial District Judge James H. Owen.
