OBIT: Ruth E. Lockhart Roland (Ford Cliff)
Ruth E. Lockhart Roland, 66 of Ford Cliff, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at a friends house in Rimersburg.
She was born August 11, 1948 in Kittanning to William and Elsie (Beck) Lockhart.
A lifetime resident of Ford Cliff/Ford City, Ruth was a missionary and also worked as a clerk at Foodland in Kittanning.
She was a member of Greater Works Outreach in Monroeville. She pioneered a mission base in Panama for YWAM, working 11 years as a missionary there.
For the past five years, she and her husband have been missionaries in Costa Rica, feeding and clothing the needy and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
She lived her life for others, and truly was a Proverbs 31 wife to her husband, Joel.
Ruth played and taught piano for more than 30 years,sang, and enjoyed reading her Bible and teaching children. She also taught Spanish, English and Bible.
She was a kind, loving and self-sacrificing giver, and loved by so many.
She will be remembered as a very sweet caring, loving, tender-hearted woman of God and a Godly woman of rare caliber.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Joel E. Roland, of Ford Cliff; sister, Virginia Pontremoli of Cleveland, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant brother.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9PM tomorrow - Thursday, September 24, 2015 - at the Kennedy and Blodgett Funeral Home in Kittanning.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, September 25, 2015 at the funeral home, with the Pastor Gerard Amoroso officiating.
Interment will be in Ford City Cemetery.
