OBIT: Robert I. Patterson (Kittanning)
Robert Irvin Patterson, 88, of Kittanning, died on Monday, August 17, 2015, in the Butler VA Hospital.
He was born in Indiana, PA on October 17, 1926, the son of Robert and Agnes (Hill) Patterson. He was a WWII Army and Korean Conflict veteran. He was the owner of Patterson Heating and Plumbing.
He was a member of the Center Hill Church of the Brethren. Bob received his Theological Degree from Transylvania Bible School and was the former pastor of the Furnace Run Chapel for ten years.
He was a life member of the Rayburn Beagle Club and Hilltop Beagle Club, member of the Pattonville VFW and the Cowansville American Legion, and member of the Masonic Lodge, Coudersport Consistory, and Shriners.
He was inducted into the Armstrong County Sports Hall of Fame in 1992 for beagle handling. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years: Betty (Wilson) Patterson; daughters: Joanne Sinclair, Nancy (James) Coon, and Barbara (John) Roberts; grandchildren: Katie Allgire, Kevin Allgire, Bailey Coon, and Tyler Coon; great-grandchildren: Dakota Allgire, Rome Allgire, and Kenton Allgire; siblings: Charles (Barbara) Patterson, Jane Delhunty, Kenneth (Jerry) Patterson, and Francis (Patricia) Patterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Doris (Earl) Bowser, Margaret Sherry-Shirley; brother: Harold (Mary) Patterson; and son-in-law: Jack Delhunty.
Friends will be received from 11AM until the time of a funeral service at 1PM on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning. The Reverend Jean Westlake will officiate. Interment will be in the Center Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
