OBIT: James A. “Jimmy” Ross, Jr. (Ford City)

James A. “Jimmy” Ross, Jr., 77, of Ford City, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2015 at his daughter’s residence.

He was born October 13, 1937, in Apollo, the son of James A. Ross, Sr. and Florence L. (Chivers) Ross.

Jimmy was a lifetime resident of Burrell Township and was a former employee of the Vandergrift Mill.

He enjoyed watching wrestling and NASCAR, and was a big fan of the Steelers.

Shooting guns was one of his favorite hobbies and he was a CB freak, with the handle of “Longears.”

Jimmy’s sense of humor will always be remembered by those who knew him and he will be greatly missed.

His memory will be cherished by his son, Tim Ross and girlfriend, Janice Keim, of Kittanning; daughter, Patricia Claypool, of Indiana, Pa.; three grandchildren: Crystal Stewart and companion, Jeremy Hemke, of South Bend Townshp, Tonya Polka and husband, Jared, of Washington, Pa., and Melissa Claypool, of Brick Church; four great-grandchildren; three brothers: Richard L. Ross and wife, Betty, of Butler, Ronald L. Ross and wife, Ida Mae, of Burrell Township and Robert D. Ross and wife, Terry, of Burrell Township; sister, Carol J. Bowser, of Akron, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents.

Relatives and friends may visit from 1PM until the time of funeral services at 4PM on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home in Elderton, with Chaplain Tom Spiker of VNA Hospice Indiana officiating.

Burial will be in St. Michael’s Brick Church Cemetery, in Ford City.
