OBIT: James B. Swartz (Ford City)
James B. Swartz, 76, of Ford City died Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the ACMH Hospital.
Born March 14, 1939 in Manor Township, he was the son of Daniel and Ruby Evelyn (Walters) Swartz.
Jim was of the Protestant Faith. He was a peace time veteran of the US Air Force where he was a boxer. After retiring from Pullman Standard he worked as a bartender at both the Chatterbox and Stanley’s Bar of Ford City.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing baseball and softball for many years and he really enjoyed his grandchildren.
Surviving are daughter: Kelli (Mark) Jones of Templeton; son: James E. Swartz and companion Jennifer Montero of Ford City; daughter: Tracey Swartz and companion Dean Waugaman of Ford City; son: Scott (Patricia) Swartz of
Rural Valley; son: Chad (Tiffany) Swartz of Kittanning; 10 grandchildren: Kurtis Jones, Lyndsey Jones, Justin Waugaman, Hannah Swartz, Hunter Swartz, Bo Swartz, Lou Swartz, Rocco Swartz, Gemma Swartz, Rafe Swartz; sister: Shirley J. Ford of Cadogan; brother: A. Edward (Maxine) Swartx of Erie; sister: Marian Groves of Ford City; brother: David A. (Barb) Swartz of Ford City; and several nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Karen (Burdett) Swartz who died Feb. 5, 2005, brothers, Donald Swartz, , Daniel C. Swartz, Jr. and sisters, Ruby Evelyn Dowling, Jean Bucko, Garnet Swartz and Nancy Burdett.
Friends will be welcomed at the at the Welch Funeral Home in Ford City, on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, from 2:00-4:00 PM & 7:00-9:00 PM, where services will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Joni
Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the McVille Union Cemetery in South Buffalo Township.
