OBIT: Shelva J. Koleck (Ford City)

Shelva J. (Kyowski) Koleck, 78, of Ford City, died on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Sugarcreek Rest.

She was born on February 23, 1937 in Ford City, a daughter of Clara L. Kyowski.

Mrs. Koleck was employed at the former Pittsburgh Plate Glass Industries, Essex, having served as the union president. She was a former member of the St. Francis of Paola Church in Ford City, and a current member of Christ Prince of Peace. She served on the St. Francis of Paola Church rectory.

She was an avid supporter and campaigner for the Democratic Committee. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, line dancing with the Senior Sensations, and traveling, especially casinos. One of her favorite past times was playing the piano.

She is survived by two sons: Victor M. (Cynthia) Koleck of Putneyville and David J. (Lori) Koleck of Manorville; five grandchildren: Jessica, Sarah, Randall, Nicole, and Michael Koleck.

She was preceded in death by her mother; and her husband: Victor Martin Koleck whom she married on December 31, 1958 and who died in 1998.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Mantini Funeral Home in Ford City. A Prayer Service will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 4, 2015 in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at Christ Prince of Peace Parish with Father Bryan Summers celebrant. Burial will be in St. Francis of Paola Cemetery.
