Two Persons Found Dead in Distant
The Pennsylvania State Police responded to a report of two bodies found in the snow outside their residence in the village of Distant, Mahoning Township.
Police identified the deceased individuals as 61 year old Linda Darlene Cook, and 64-year-old Kenneth Leroy Steffey.
The two individuals were discovered by a family member.
Authorities would not comment on specific details. An autopsy is scheduled today at Carlow University.
Armstrong County Coroner Brian Myers was called to the scene. Route 28/66 was temporarily closed between Pheasant Farm Road and Cherry Street while the investigation was being conducted last night.
According to neighbors, federal agents were also dispatched to the residence. Large tents were set up around the property to accommodate the emergency workers and law enforcement officials as temperatures continued to drop throughout the evening.
The investigation is continuing.
