One person died in a two-vehicle accident on Route 422 east in Plumcreek Township on Saturday night according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Micheal Slupski, 43, of Erie, was driving too fast for conditions west bound on Route 422 when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow covered highway, State Police Trooper Thomas Karlo said. A 2015 Freightliner tractor-trailer, driven by 31-year-old Ryan Fether of Imler, PA, hit the side of Slupski’s vehicle in the far right eastbound lane causing the vehicle to spin around and coming to rest on the north berm of the highway..

Slupski was transported to ACMH Hospital by Kittanning #6 EMS and then flown to UPMC Presbyterian. He died early Sunday morning from blunt force trauma to his head and body.

Fether had no reported injuries.

Both vehicles were towed by Mohney Towing. The State Police were assisted by the Elderton Fire Department.
