OBITL Chamie Hooks (Kittanning)
Chamie Andrew Hooks, 89, of Kittanning went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 16, 2015 at home. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Chamie was born in Bridgeburg on March 15, 1925 to the late Joseph and Alma (Cousins) Hooks. He married Patricia Futscher on May 27, 1950. He was a long standing member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Adrian. He proudly served in the United States Army in World War II. He was retired from Kittanning Builders Supply and was a member of Local 952.
Chamie’s greatest accomplishments were his family and playing baseball. To this day, people comment on what a “great ballplayer” he was. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friend, Mervin Wonderling.
He is survived by his wife: Patricia; son: Chamie (Kate) Hooks; Debbie (Robert) Southern, and Brenda Hooks-Grattan. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Chamie (Tasha) Hooks, Christopher (Adriann) Hooks, Heather (Andy Peters) Hooks, Amanda Silvera, Daniela Silvera, Kasey Hooks-Grattan, Colin Hooks-Grattan, and Kalynn Hooks-Grattan; and four great-grandchildren: Kiersten, Sienna, Anderson, and Emmett. Also surviving are sisters: Margaret (Robert) Plyer, Shirley Rimmel; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Willis, Gerald, and Joseph Hooks; his son-in-law Jack Grattan; and great-granddaughter: Jacklynn Ann Davis.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning. Visitation continues at 10AM on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 followed by a funeral service at 11AM at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Adrian. The Reverend Carl Johnson will officiate. Interment will be in the Kittanning Cemetery.
