OBIT: Henry Shevchuk (Cadogan)
Henry Shevchuk, of Cadogan, died Monday, January 12, 2015.
He was born in Cadogan, the son of the late-Felix and Justina Shevchuk.
Henry was a graduate of Ford City High School and Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics with an associate degree and later received his Inspection Authorization.
He retired from the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant and USAir.
Henry was a member of the American Legion, Ukrainian Technological Society, St. Mary’s Ukrainian Church in Ford City and was a life member of the VFW.
Henry is survived by his wife, Patricia (Pepper) Shevchuk; two sons: Andrew (Jennifer) and James (Sarah); granddaughter, Ella; two grandsons: Alex and Jameson; two sisters: Helen Ellermeyer of New Kensington and Ann Staerkel of Illinois; and brother-in-law, James Vanek of New Kensington; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Pete and Russell; and two sisters: Mary Serene and Rose Vanek.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9PM tomorrow - Thursday, January 15, 2015 - at the Mantini Funeral Home in Ford City.
A service will be held at 7PM Thursday, as well as a prayer service at 9:30AM Friday, January 16, 2015 at the funeral home.
A Service of Divine Liturgy will be held at 10AM Friday at the St. Mary’s Ukrainian Church, with Father John Gribik officiating.
Interment will be in Lawn Haven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be sent to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or a charity of ones choice.
