No Injuries, But Three Vehicles Damaged in East Franklin

Friday, January 9, East Franklin Township Police Sgt. William Evans filed the following three accident reports:

At 7:25AM, he was dispatched to a one vehicle accident at the intersection of State Route 268 and Walkchalk Road, because a 1998 Oldsmobile owned and driven by Marna S Holzer of North Apollo was traveling North on 268 and attempted to negotiate a curve to the left, but lost control of the vehicle on the ice and snow covered roadway, crossed over the opposite lane of travel and struck a fire hydrant on the South bound side of Rt 268.

Holzer was not injured but the vehicle sustained severe damage.

Later that morning, about 09:09AM, Sgt. Evans was dispatched to a MVA accident near Franklin Village Mall.

A 2006 Mazda CX7 owned and operated by Andrew S Bowser of Kittanning was traveling North on State Route 268, in the area of Franklin Village and lost control of his vehicle on the ice and snow covered roadway due to the near whiteout condtions.

Bowser struck the back rear duals of a tractor trailer owned and operated by Lawrence C Johnston of New Galilee, PA, causing the Mazda to cross the medial strip backwards and come to rest on the medial.

While there were again no injuries and no damage to the tractor trailer, the Mazda CX7 sustained extensive damage.

Then, about 10:33AM, Sgt. Evans returned to the intersection with Walkchalk Road for another one vehicle accident.

A 2005 Ford Taurus leased and driven by a Clifford Vogan of Kittanning was traveling North on 268, attempted to negotiate a curve to the left, lost control of the vehicle on the ice and snow covered roadway, due to the near white out condtions, and struck a utility pole on the North bound side of Rt 268.

No injuries were reported, but there was severe damage to the Ford Taurus.
