OBIT: James Richard Shaw (Kittanning)
James Richard Shaw, 93 of Kittanning, died Tuesday, January 6, at Erdley’s Sunnyside Personal Care Home.
He was born March 17, 1921 in Bethel Township to Joseph and Florence (Fennell) Shaw.
James retired from Linde Aire Corp. and was a custodian at First Baptist Church in Kittanning.
James served with the U.S. Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant stationed in Panama.
He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Kittanning, and loved reading Western novels.
James is survived by two daughters: Judy (Earl) Boyer of Rural Valley and Connie (Tom) Grafton of Kittanning; eight grandchildren: Holly Boyer, Gretchen Johns, Heidi Cross, Rachel Boyer, Gregg Boyer, Kevin Shaw, Kelli Burlett and Richard Grafton; and eight great-grandchildren: Madison, Frank, Trevor, Kyley, Paige, Chelsea, Jacob and Noah.
James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Belva L. (Johns) Shaw on June 18, 1991; son, James T. Shaw on November 20, 2008; granddaughter, Mean Grafton; infant grandson; and four brothers: Robert Shaw, Charlie Shaw, Gene Grantz and Ron Grantz.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9PM tomorrow - Thursday, January 8, 2015 - at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, January 9, 2015 at the funeral home, with the Rev. John W. Snyder officiating.
Interment will be in Cochran Cemetery.
