Dr. Lakshmipriya N has come quite the distance from her native country of Bangalore, India in order to study differences between international and American politics in cinema.

“I like to compare Indian and American politics in cinema, creating an interpretation for the trade union politics and the growth of India”, explained Lakshmipriva, “Visits and influences from American politicians is really a better growth for cultural relations”.

Dr. Lakshmipriva first received recognition when crowned as ‘Ms. Bangalore Brain with Beauty’ in 2006. Since then, she has had many accomplishments.

In addition to Dr. Lakshmipriva having a Ph.D., which she acquired from years of schooling in Chennai, she is also an engineer, accomplished actress and model, an author of four published books based on Indian politics and Indian cinema. She is also a politician.

Armstrong County may seem like the last place to explore these different cultural aspects but Lakshmipriva feels the rural atmosphere of our area are a better representation of American life rather than those of large cities.

“I came here to meet one of my friends who invited me to the area, he is an ophthalmologist, and its a great opportunity for me to meet the people of a different culture. I have been to the Folk Festival this past weekend and had seen so many cultural differences such as foods and clothing”.

She expresses her adoration for this area with one factor in particular.

“This is a highly forested area that is completely nature-based; in India there is not much of what we see here”.

Along with her knowledge of politics, she is aware of the industrialization of India which has been growing steady for nearly 20 years. Education is key within the culture as well.

“There are plenty of institutions with a growing number of doctors, lawyers and media professionals. With this comes great changes in healthcare, telecommunication industries and they are bringing Hollywood films to India”.

In 2012, Lakshmi took her political endeavors to writing when she published her book about Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, just one year before earning her doctorate degree. It was an acclaimed piece which was praised by Rahul Gandhi himself and featured various facets of political development for India.

She will be a guest today on the WTYM Morning Show beginning at 10:05.
