Quality antiques, hand crafts and food will be featured at the 15th annual Antique and Craft Fair in Kittanning Riverfront Park this Saturday.

The Kit-Han-Ne Quester’s “Antiquing Along the Allegheny” event will be held from 8AM to 3PM, with Appraiser Tim Sweet available from 10-11:30AM at a cost of $5 per item.

Publicity Chair Carolyn Schrecengost of Rayburn Township said, “Our members are lovers of antique, so in 1999 we decided that the beautiful Riverfront Park along the Allegheny River would be the perfect setting for vendors to bring their goods,” Schrecengost said. “The first few years we combined with the Car Show that was held on Market Street. This has been a favorite event since then.

We feel it is important to get the next generation interested in preserving the past.”

She said that bargain items can also be found on the chapter’s “Treasure Table” that includes items donated by members and friends.

With a motto of “It’s fun to search and a joy to find,” the Kit-Han-Ne Questers #408 - a non-profit group - formed in 1969 and is part of the Questers International Organization that currently has more than 900 chapters and more than 15,000 members in the United States and Canada. The purpose and goals of the non-profit group are to research and study antiques, take pride in our members’ personal collections and share their knowledge with fellow Questers and friends.

Shopping trips and other outings are scheduled each year.

Proceeds from the fair are donated for the preservation or restoration of artifacts, historic buildings, landmarks and more. The most recent project involved giving of grants to the Butler County Historical Society toward the acquisition of the Austin American Car Company’s original Austin “C-Cab” Van prototype that is now on display at the museum’s carriage house in Butler.

Past funds have been designated to the Armstrong County Historical Museum, The Mildred Lankerd Genealogical Library, The Armstrong County Courthouse and The Casino Theater across the river in Vandergrift (Westmoreland County)

The Kit-Han-Ne Chapter has 17 members, two of which live in Butler County. Kay John from East Brady is the current President.

More information about the organization can be found online at the International Questers website at www.questers1944.org .

Vendors are still wanted and may register at the park the day of the fair. Cost for a 25ft space along the sidewalk is $35. For further information call Rovena Chauvaux at 724-548-1015.
