OBIT: William M. Morrow (Ford City)
William M. “Bill” Morrow, 82, of Ford City, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at UPMC St. Margaret’s.
He was born January 29, 1932 in Mosgrove, Pa., the son of Hartzell and Elizabeth (Moore) Morrow.
Bill was a lifetime resident of Armstrong County and graduated from Kittanning High School in 1950. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was of the Protestant faith.
Bill worked as a truck driver and retired from Mashuda Corporation, and belonged to the Teamsters Local 341.
Boating on the Allegheny River and fishing were two of his favorite hobbies, and he was also a talented woodworker. Bill loved his dogs and never forgot his favorite, Abby, even after her passing.
He enjoyed traveling to visit family members and also loved spending time with his grandsons and great-granddaughters, who will all hold fond memories of fun sleepovers and activities with him in their hearts.
Bill will be remembered for the love he had for his family, especially for his grandsons and great-granddaughters.
His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley (Helm) Morrow; two daughters: Deborah A. Zeigler and husband, Donald, of Kittanning, and Kathy Jo Reedy and husband, Bryan “Butch,” of Ford City; two grandchildren: Christopher Zeigler and wife, Tracy, of Kittanning, and Michael Frank and companion, Nicki, of Ford City; two great-grandchildren: Olivia and Natalie Zeigler; brother, Larry Morrow and wife, Karen, of Ford City; and two sisters: Sandra Brena and husband, Joseph, of Pittsburgh, and Sonja Connell, of Yatesboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Charles and Robert Morrow; two sisters: Vera Boggs and Janet Gearhart; son-in-law, Gary Frank, who died October 29, 2005; three brothers-in-law: Fred Connell, George Boggs and Harry Gearhart; and sister-in-law, Babe Morrow.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9PM tomorrow - Friday, August 29, 2014 -at the Bauer Funeral Home in Kittanning. Additional visitation will be from 10AM until the time of funeral service at 11AM on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at the funeral home, with the Reverend Alfred Neal Reedy officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Worthington.
