Work Continues on Indiana County Seal Coat Project

PennDOT last week announced that work will begin on various routes in Indiana County as part of the 2013 Indiana County Seal Coat Project.

Various roads throughout Indiana County are experiencing temporary flagger-controlled lane closures to perform sealcoating operations.

The roadways are located in Blacklick, Center, White, Burrell, Armstrong, and Young Townships and Blairsville Borough.

Portions of Route 3017 (Coal Run Road), Route 3026 (Simpson Road), Route 3003 (Rustic Lodge Road), Old Route 56 and Old Route 119 will be sealcoated as part of the project. Sealcoating on other routes will be announced as work on this project progresses.

PennDOT reminds motorists to be alert to changing conditions and to pay attention to flaggers in the work zone. Remember fines are doubled; drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.

This $1.5 million seal coat project is being constructed by Russell Standard Corp. of Pittsburgh. The project is expected to be completed by the end of August.

Work began Sunday to improve the intersection of Route 56 and 422 in Shelocta Borough and Armstrong Township. Turning lane additions, drainage upgrades and repairs, and an asphalt overlay of this entire section are among the goals.

That project is currently underway overnight – from 7PM to 6AM. Traffic may be restricted to one lane during these hours.

No restrictions are to be required during daytime hours.

This $1.4 million intersection improvement project is being constructed by Lindy Paving of Sandy Lake, and is expected to be completed mid-October.
