12/24/1969 – A Christmas display of several hundred figures and items is the 31-year hobby of Mrs. C. E. Blake of 1010-4th Ave., Ford City, who spent two weeks on the 5 x 9 ½ foot platform exhibit. The display contains a manger scene, farm yard, forest and animals, ski slope, parks, Indian village with pilgrims, miniature furniture, dolls and appliances.

12/24/1969 – The proposed Armstrong County airport has been named as one of the ten projects in Pennsylvania to be recommended for inclusion in the Appalachian Development Plan.

12/24/1969 – Wrestling was explained and demonstrated last night following a dinner meeting of Ford City Kiwanis Club in the Latin-American Club. William Beck, wrestling coach at Ford City High School, explained the sport with the aid of two wrestlers, John Liperote, 128lb.; and Lloyd Jack, 145 lb.

12/24/1964 - A group of college students, Christmas caroling Tuesday night in the Hansotte Plan, collected approximately $22 for Children’s Hospital, Pittsburgh.

12/24/1959 – Kittanning Chamber of Commerce identified winners of the 1959 Christmas home decorating contest and commended residents for the splendid job this year. Winners were Leroy H. Serene, Kittanning RD 4, first; Edwin H. Smith, Kittanning RD3, second and Mrs. Stanley Schrecengost, 707 Ferne Drive, Kittanning, third.

12/24/1959 – The Senior Class of Kittanning Senior High School presented Christmas gifts to Marie Gumabon, Philippino exchange student, during the annual Christmas assembly program. The gifts included a stuffed dog corsage and class ring. She was given jewelry by the sophomore and junior classes.

12/24/1954 – Irving Berlin’s White Christmas opens tomorrow at the State Theater. Sitting Bull begins tomorrow at the Columbia.

12/24/1954 – Sharon Downs Forders 43-40 in Exhibition. Sherwood Meades was high scorer for the Glassers with 12 points.

12/24/1954 – An unpleasant mixture of wet snow and rain whipping around Armstrong County was not expected to add up to a white Christmas, the weather bureau said.

12/24/1949 – Mrs. Emma Tischendorf, 87-year-old Kittanning woman, died of burns and shock received in a fire in her bedroom. .

12/24/1949 – Patients at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital and residents at Armsdale Home will dine on turkey with all the trimmings this Christmas.

12/24/1934 – Because the tobacco pouch in which he carried his money changed pockets while he was being fitted for a new suit in a Butler shop, Elmer Gaiser of Worthington RD 1 retrieved $110 which a tailor in the shop freely admitted having taken.

12/24/1934 – Whether they know it or not, the thieves who drove away with a Clinton man’s automobile in Kittanning left him with little to be merry about. They got not only the man’s automobile, but also a large quantity of groceries which had been purchased for the coming week, as well as Christmas gifts which had been placed in the car.

12/24/1929 – Mary Best and David Stratton rounded out another year of perfect attendance at the First Presbyterian Sunday School. Each had gone ten years without missing a Sunday.

12/24/1929 – Mrs. Parker Wibel, 60, died unexpectedly at her home at West Kittanning.
