Beacon Light Behavioral Health System’s new Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility in located in North Buffalo Township.
Beacon Light Behavioral Health System will open the doors of its Kittanning Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility at the beginning of the new year.
The team of professionals at that location will be providing Specialized Therapeutic Residence for Intellectual and Developmental Empowerment (STRIDE) program for youth ages 10 to 18 years old.
Beacon Light is responding to the community’s needs—particularly those who have expressed a need for the STRIDE program’s level of behavioral health care.
“Our current STRIDE services for adolescents have proven to offer positive treatment outcomes for a population that has historically had difficulties in a typical RTF setting,” says Robert Eddy, LPC, Beacon Light’s Senior Treatment Coordinator for MH-IDD Residential Programs. “Our program focuses on Positive Behavioral Support as well as Every Day Lives principles of youth by keeping them close to their home communities where family engagement and community inclusion is deemed critical for success.”
Eddy is joined by a multi-disciplinary treatment team including a Treatment Coordinator Licensed Therapists, a Residential Behavioral Specialist, Psychiatrist, Psychologist and Registered Nurses.
Beacon Light’s Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) houses eight co-ed single bedrooms and offers youth a structured environment within a homelike setting while receiving mental health clinical services. The site provides 24-hour supervision, on-site nursing care and the staff is trained to nurture and encourage residents while setting appropriate limits.
In addition to this new site, Beacon Light maintains Joint Commission-approved children’s psychiatric residential treatment facilities in Bradford, Youngsville and Ulster, Pennsylvania.
