Republican Senator Joe Pittman discusses issues across party lines with Democrat Chuck Pascal.
Pennsylvania Senator Joe Pittman held an open house event at his Armstrong County office in Kittanning yesterday.
Pittman was joined by his local staffers and dozens of community leaders that dropped by for some personal time with the Senator.
Pittman continued a tradition started by his former boss, Senator Don White.
“It’s a good way for me to check in with the people of the community and get a sense of what is going on. I’m really flattered that so many people took the time to do it.”
Pittman served as Chief of Staff for Senator White for 17 of the 18 years White was in office. Pittman said it was his knowledge of the local political landscape that enabled him to quickly take on tasks for local municipalities.

“I feel very fortunate that I have entered into this office with a great team. I already know a lot of the local elected officials and have worked with for a lot of years. I feel like we are forming around some priorities to get things done.”
Pittman also indicated his commitment to Kittanning Borough.
“We’re going to be here in mid-January to highlight the benefits of the façade program. I know we have the rehabilitation of the (former) Junior High (school) property that should be taking place this summer, and we are going to continue to pave streets. That is about as basic and important of infrastructure as you can do.”
Pittman said he knew what the job as a senator would entail, and he has committed himself to the task.
“I was elected to serve. I take public office seriously. I am here to serve the communities and work with the staff to do just that.”

Senator Pittman said good things are in store for middle Armstrong County over the next 12 months.
