11/04/1969 - The water line being installed across the Allegheny River parallel to the Kittanning bridge should be completed this week. This project will bring public water to areas of East Franklin and North Buffalo Township.

11/04/1969 - A Ford City woman - Miss Mary L. Pendleton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Pendleton - has been selected for recognition for her work with the Social Security Administration at the Philadelphia office. She will receive the Commissioner’s Citation - the Social Security Administration’s highest honor award.

11/04/1969 – Kittanning Borough Council heard from William Stover, a representative of the Kittanning Lions Club, who is offering to help develop a portion of the proposed Community Park. Council accepted their assistance.

11/04/1969 – Jamesway Corporation, shooting for a pre-Easter opening of a new discount department store here, has foundation construction under way on the Indiana Road site.

11/04/1969 – Students at the Armstrong County Center of Indiana University of Pennsylvania will see their new student union facilities take shape faster as a result of a $1,500 donation from the Coffee House Ministry. It will help renovate a building on Locust Street, which was purchased last summer.

11/04/1969 – Mr & Mrs Paul Benton of 140 W. Ross St, Worthington, were honored by a dinner open house in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. The Bentons were married on October 29, 1919. Mrs. Benton is still active managing her own beauty shop in Worthington. Her husband retired July 1969 from being a custodian at Worthington High School. They have four children: Emerson of Beaver Falls; Paul Jr. of Lansing, Mich.; Mrs. Donald (Jean) Forringer of Freeport RD1; and Mis Ila Benton of Harrisburg.

11/04/1944 - Deadline for applications for renewal of gasoline coupons is midnight next Wednesday, when the entire A book now in use will be replaced by a new stamp set, officials of local war rationing office here warned today.

11/04/1939 - Four vocational agriculture students in Kittanning schools will go to New Castle to present a broadcast program under auspices of Allegheny Chapter, Future Farmers of America. The boys - Paul Shaul, Thomas Templeton, Edward Klugh and John Ellenberger - will discuss electricity in poultry houses.

11/04/1939 - With a 30-day option in hand on a 6 1/2 acre plot on North Water St., Kittanning Borough Board of Education will take no definite action regarding propsed purchases of the land as an athletic field site before Nov. 14. The option is on a piece of property between North Water St. and the Pennsylvania Railroad Tracks, owned by Richard Bowser and Ellis Shaw, Kittanning.

11/04/1929 - A young Men’s Christian Association organizer, in town the latter part of the week, interviewed a number of persons with a view of ascertaining sentiment for the establishment of a branch of the organization in Kittanning.

11/04/1929 - Wholesale prices in the Kittanning market today included butter, 35 cents per pound and eggs, 50 cents a dozen.

11/04/1929 - Frank T. Wray, for 37 years a well-known druggist in Apollo and a leader in musical circles in the Kiskiminetas Valley, died at the home of W. E. Jones in Apollo after a few days illness of pneumonia.
