Fire Department Represented in Kittanning Parade

Cardboard vehicles on ATVs represented all three Kittanning fire departments responding to a house fire.

Bob and Lisa Kline enlisted the help of friends and neighbors to produce a motorized cardboard replica of the three fire departments in downtown Kittanning.

“We themed them after the fire trucks in town. One was themed after a retired fire truck, it’s a convertible one. Then we did one after #1, #4 and #6 like one of their trucks. We just tried to do characteristics of each department,” Lisa said.

She said a wooden frame was created around three 4-wheelers and a side-by-side.

“Wood, lots of cardboard and lots of paint! And then we borrowed our outfits from firemen from all the fire halls.”

There was even a house that was on fire in the montage.

“We used strobe lights and a fog machine. And then miscellaneous things laying around like hoses.”

No one in the actually float were firefighters, but rather family of other members.

In addition to Bob & Lisa Kline’s family, they were assisted by the best friend of their daughter, Lisa’s brother and sister-in-law (Donna & Kenneth McGinnis), the little Dalmatian, and niece Kennedy Eckman.

“Neighbors pitched in brought things of wood to build the ladder,” Lisa said, adding it took about three weeks to build.
