PennDOT Displays Equipment Ready for Winter

The local Armstrong County maintenance garage for PennDOT District 10 had all of their winter vehicle fleet available to the public for inspection Thursday morning. Although $2.9 million was budgeted last year for Armstrong County snow removal, it actually cost $3.4 million. PennDOT covered 1,362 miles of snow removal, that included 36 inches of snow on the average. PennDOT trucks used 11,745 tons of salt along with 56,295 gallons of brine. Our local PennDOT garage employs 68 operators that use 31 plow trucks, four anti-icing trucks, and two graders. Six mechanics work locally to maintain the equipment.
