A blood drive is being conducted today in North Buffalo Township and then again this Friday in Elderton.
The Red Cross will be at the Center Hill Church of the Brethren today from 1:00-5:30 PM.
Another drive will be conducted this Friday, October 4 at the Elderton Fire Hall at 305 Williams Street from 1:30-6:00 PM.
The American Red Cross is urging eligible donors to give blood to help maintain a blood supply as diverse as the patients who depend on
lifesaving transfusions. While most blood types fall into one of the major blood groups, for a portion of the population, finding someone with the same blood type can be as difficult as finding a needle in a haystack.
Patients who depend on frequent transfusions or with rare blood types are more likely to find a compatible blood match from a donor of the same race or ethnic group. You can help increase the diversity of the blood supply by telling people of all blood types, as well as all races and ethnicities, that their blood donation is needed.
Appointments can be made by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enabling the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device.
