09/11/1969 – James White of Kittanning, who was last year’s chairman of the state Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service, spoke out in favor of the proposed Air Industrial Park at Worthington. He said that the impact of using farm land for the air park will not adversely affect over-all county crop production. “The economic fact is that 5,844 crop acres in this county were diverted under federal agriculture program in 1968 while the air park will use only 300 acres.”

09/11/1969 - State Sen. Albert R. Pechan of Ford City unexpectedly died this morning in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital after suffering a heart attack last night in his home. He was often referred to as the “peppery Republican whip”. He was 67.
09/11/1969 - Three Ford City boys dumb-founded local police yesterday when they were found driving a five-ton lumber truck around the parking lot behind Arner’s Hardware. The boys were 9, 10 and 11-years old.

09/11/1969 – Ford City police were dumfounded yesterday when they saw three boys – aged 9, 10, and 11 – were driving a five-ton lumber truck around the parking lot behind Arner’s Hardware Store. The keys had apparently been left in the truck. The boys were released to their parents.

09/11/1939 - Red Mantini of East Kittanning had a narrow escape from injury when the roof of n automobile he was driving snagged the bottom flight of steps on the Columbia Theater Building fire escape. Part of the steel structure was forced through the automobile windshield.
