Kittanning Borough Zoning Hearing Board Chairman Robert Smith requested that Council approve a change of venue for the continuation of a hearing about the use of the First Church of God property on Woodward Avenue. The Armstrong Indiana Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission wants to convert the property to a recovery center for individuals previously addicted to drugs or alcohol.
The hearing began last Thursday, September 5 in Council Chambers; however, many residents did not have the opportunity to comment within the two-hour time limit. The hearing was continued until September 30 at 7:30 PM.
“The last meeting had cars almost to Sheetz. We had several comments about people not being able to get into the building to hear the proceedings,” Smith told Council Members.
Smith secured permission from Kittanning Hose Company #4 to hold the remainder of the hearing at that location.
A motion to approve the change in venue was made by Councilman David Croyle and seconded by Councilman Chris Schiano. All members in attendance approved.
