Country Church Holds 9/11 Service

Pastor Deborah Marshall led a 9/11 service of remembrance last night at the Sherrett United Methodist Church.

Sherrett United Methodist Church held a service remembering America’s traumatic day of September 11, 2001.

Pastor Deborah Marshall was joined by approximately 20 parishioners for a time of prayer and readings.

Pastor Marshall spoke of the more than 3,000 persons who died. She read the time frames of when each plane hit various locations and showed the names of those who lost their lives. She compared the event with Biblical accounts of the Old Testament.

The service ended with parishioners in a circle of prayer for the nation. The church bell was rung 9 times, and then again 11 times during the final solemn moments of the service.

The local congregation was also joined by several members of the Wattersonville United Methodist Church.

The church is located at 634 Sherrett Road, Cowansville.
