09/10/1969 - Dr. James K. Greenbaum showed slides and discussed his two-month stay in Vietnam as a volunteer doctor at the first fall meeting of West Kittanning PTA.

09/10/1969 - Price specials offered by local food stores in today’s paper included: sirloin steak at $1.19 lb.; white potatoes at 69 cents for a 20-lb. bag; coffee at $1.79 for 3-lb,; bread at four loaves for $1; and Crisco at 59 cents for a 3-lb. can.

09/10/1969 - Hundreds of .stamp collectors converged on Apollo Post Office to buy the new Apollo 11 commemorative stamp that went on sale here one day after the sale in Washington, D. C. By noon, stamp sales had soared to 11,000. No other community but this one in the United States will bear the Apollo postmark.

09/10/1969 – Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Carley are in the midst of selling out merchandise in their variety store in McGrann. They are preparing to close after selling out the stock of accumulated merchandise. They have operated the store for the past 22½ years, seven-days-a-week, 13-hours-a-day. The store only closed one day a year – on Christmas Day.

09/10/1964 - Kittanning High determined to end its nine-game losing streak romped through a light signal drill today in preparation for tomorrow night’s ’64 grid game at Tarentum. Up from Ullom listed Mike Swartz and Sam Cross, ends; Jerry Willis and Fred Crissman, tackles; Jack Stull and Frank Bleggi, guards and John Zamperini at center.

09/10/1959 - The cafeteria at the new Ford City High School addition was initiated yesterday by 1,047 students who ate in the new dining room for the first time. The 1,047 students were out of a total of 1,261 leaving 214 who did not use cafeteria facilities.

09/10/1959 - Armstrong County Treasurer Fred A. McElhinney has announced that applications for antlerless deer licenses are available at this office in the courthouse.

09/10/1959 - Eleanor Space, 1958 graduate of Ford City High School received one of the Elks Scholarships during a program last night. Other area graduates to receive scholarships from the Elks this year were William Kammerdiener of Kittanning and Frank Williams of Craigsville.

09/10/1954 - Mr. and Mrs. John Petronchek won a Scotch foursome played at Kittanning Country Club, it was announced.

09/10/1954 - The Pittsburgh Pirates open a two-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals at home tonight and need seven victories.

09/10/1954 - Dan Pail, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence J. Pail, Manor Township, is the new president of the Student Council of Kittanning High School. He was elected to the post for the 1954-55 term yesterday, taking the place of Jerry Rardin, who has moved to Cleveland.

09/10/1949 - Fifteen Days allowed For Filing Objections to Courthouse Plans. Everyone May Be Heard, Judge Emphasizes in Giving Conditional Okay.

09/10/1949 - The American Legion property on South McKean St. was sold for a reported $25,000 to two New Kensington city officials. A contract has already been let by the owners for construction of a large one-story building in the property which will be leased to the Kroger Company for its store.

09/10/1949 - A new attorney - Harvey Howard Heilman Jr. was accepted at Armstrong County court today as a member of the bar to practice law in Armstrong County.

09/10/1949 - Edgar Donald Churchill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Churchill of 214 Queen St., will leave for the Salvation Army Training College in New York City where he will study ten months in preparation for Salvation Army officership.

09/10/1934 - The seventh annual homecoming of Roger Chapel Methodist Church at McVille was celebrated Sunday with all-day services.

09/10/1934 - Armstrong County Coroner A. W. Dosch conducted an investigation into the finding of the body of a woman, thought to have been dead two or three days in the Nulton Hotel. Reported to have been about 30 years old, the woman had not been identified definitely at noon today.

09/10/1929 - The Rev. H. I. Zook has been returned by Pittsburgh Conference as pastor for another year of the Methodist Protestant Church here. The Rev. A. J. McInturff, pastor of Ford Memorial Methodist Church, has asked the Methodist Episcopal conference to transfer him to a new field.
