Vandergrift Man Arrested for Attempted Strangulation

A Vandergrift man is being accused of trying to strangle a New Kensington woman in Cadogan early Sunday morning, September 1.

According to Investigating Trooper Jeffrey Johns, Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched shortly before 5AM to the report of a domestic incident at 1st Street in Cadogan Township. Upon arrival, Johns determined that an unidentified 38-year-old woman from New Kensington sustained severe facial injuries as well as had been strangled. The victim was treated at ACMH Hospital for her injuries.

Police found Landon Martinkovich, 38, from Vandergrift, who had fled the scene. Martinkovich was placed in custody on felony charges and a warrant.

Martinkovich was arraigned before District Magisterial Judge Gary DeComo and committed to the Armstrong County Jail after failing to post a $100,000 bond.
