08/02/1969 – Paul S. Walker has conducted auctions in Armstrong County for 44 years. He and his wife, who often clerks for him, reside at Dayton RD2. Fortunately, says Mrs. Walker, her auctioneer husband slows down the speed of his speech at home.
08/02/1969 – Seaman Glenn Foreman, son of Mr. & Mrs. H. Mack Foreman of 2225 Maple Drive, Ford City, was one of the four U.S. Coast Guard seamen who raised the flag at Soldiers’ Field, Chicago, before the start of the All-Star Football Game yesterday. The flag-raising ceremony was shown on national television. Foreman, a 1967 graduate of Ford City High School, enlisted in the Coast Guard in September 1967. He is stationed at Calumate Harbor USC Station in Chicago.
08/02/1969 – Mostly smoke damage resulted from a fire caused by lightning at the Leo Belotti home, Bungalow St., Cadogan, today. Fire trucks from Manor, Ford Cliff, and Ford City responded to the call. Lightning struck wires and begun a blaze within the cellar walls.
08/02/1969 – It is announced that the Greater Kittanning Jaycees are sponsoring entertainer Tiny Tim in two appearances at the Belmont Arena on August 16 for his first western PA concert. Master of Ceremonies will be KDKA’s Jim Horne. The Four Coins will also provide music.
