It was on this street in Furnace Run that Adam Long allegedly fired shots from a handgun at a Kittanning couple after 11PM on Wednesday evening, July 31.
An East Franklin Township man has been arrested after firing shots at another couple shortly before midnight on July 31.
Pennsylvania State Police Investigating Officer Anthony Vaccaro filed charges against Adam Long, 30, of Furnace Run. Vaccaro stated that Long was sending messages to an ex-girlfriend and wouldn’t stop. The woman asked her brother-in-law to talk to Long. When the brother-in-law and his wife arrived at Long’s home on Miner Street, Long was pacing back and forth in the middle of the street. After a short altercation on the street, Long is alleged to go back into his house and came out with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. He fired 5-10 shots at the street in the couple’s direction. Fearing for their lives, the couple got into their vehicle and sped away. As they were driving away, Long shot another round that hit the vehicle leaving a hole in the rear bumper. The couple met the State Police at the East Franklin Municipal Building.
Vaccaro stated in his report that Long appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance to the degree that he endangered himself or other persons and was charged with Public Drunkenness.
Long was also charged with two felony counts of Aggravated Assault, a misdemeanor counts of Simple Assault and Disorderly Conduct.
Long was arraigned Thursday morning and lodged in the Armstrong County Jail. His bond was set at $25,000. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled before District Magisterial Judge James Owen in the near future.
