Friends, family, and local residents turned out last Friday to honor one of their own.
Tom Krizmanich is turning 80 years old today, April 8. PA State Representative Donna Oberlander was at the event to present Krizmanich with a citation that was read before the House of Representatives.
“The House of Representatives is always pleased to recognize those individuals who through their wisdom and experience contribute to the enrichment and betterment of the community,” Oberlander said.
He was born in Rural Valley on April 8, 1939. He graduated from Shannock Valley High School in 1958. He served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army. He has served in the Rural Valley volunteer fire Department for 54 years. He worked at a Rural Valley bakery. He served as Borough auditor from 1965-1970. He served on Rural Valley Borough Council from 1976 until 1998. He also held the position of mayor from 2000 until 2015. In addition, he was a PIAA official for baseball, softball, and basketball for more than 28 years.
“Thank you for your contribution to this community,” Oberlander said as she hugged him.
