Adult Prom Raises Money for Two Charities

Bogie Goughler, Jennifer Goughler, Michelle Reefer, and Michael Reefer are dressed in 80s costume for last Saturday night’s Adult Prom fundraising event.

An Adult Prom sponsored by SPARC on Saturday night had many attendees in garb from the 1980s. The event was held at the Latin American Club in Ford City.

Michelle Reefer, CEO of the Progressive Workshop and is a member of the SPARC board of directors, said SPARC raises money each year for organizations.

“SPARC raises money for the Progressive Workshop and the Arc of Armstrong County. They do events a couple times a year. We always have a big dinner dance, and this year, the theme is 80’s Prom. All proceeds will be donated to the two organizations.”

Reefer said the typical donation received from SPARC is approximately $2,000 for each organization.

The event featured a turkey dinner, music, dancing, basket raffles, 50/50, and other 80’s themed contests. A king and queen of the prom was also crowned.
