Local minister Walt Marr portrays a blind man in his Biblical drama.
This past Wednesday, the Shannock Valley Ministerium held their weekly Lenten Service at NuValley Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Josh Webb (of Simpson Bible Church) officiating. There were over 100 in attendance for this service which started at 7PM.
Rev. Brenda Barnes, Pastor of NuValley Presbyterian, opened the service with a welcoming prayer for the community as well as the churches participating in this Lenten series. The talented Hallelujah Choir then Sang the hymn “The Love of Christ.”
Rev. Barnes graciously introduced Rev. Webb, who dove right into his message of how we as believers can be “Blinded by the World.” Focusing on Mark 8, the text explains that Jesus heals a blind man. Rev. Webb went on to explain how believers can be “blinded” by society and how it would feel to hear from the blind man himself.
Which is exactly what happened. The Rev. Walter Marr who is know for his theatrical presentation, testified in character as the blind man from the Bible. In costume, Marr went on to tell the story and bring the pages of the Bible to life. He told of his blindness and how it was a blessing and a curse. How he could see more clearly than those who had experienced vision the entire time. And warned that if we do not change our ways, we will be spiritual blinded for the rest of our days.
Webb ended his sermon with a blessing & prayer and Barnes closed with the Benediction. Those in attendance were invited to the fellowship hall for refreshments immediately following the service.
