9/25/1968 – Marine L/Cpl. Clarence Craig, son of Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Craig Jr. of East Arch Street in Kittanning, is back in the United States after being wounded in Vietnam. Craig was hit by shrapnel while on active duty September 11.
9/25/1968 – For reasons that cannot be explained, Kittanning and Ford City have by far more school dropouts than any other towns in Armstrong County. Leechburg, Worthington, and Elderton have no dropout problem.
9/25/1968 – Workmen poured a concrete footer for an addition to Pleasant View School along Route 66 in Manor Township. The former elementary school building is being converted into an Administration Building for Armstrong School District.
9/25/1963 - Kittanning Borough stood assured today of Federal money aid in its planning of the economic and industrial future of the vicinity. The planning work involves a total estimated expenditure of $14,540, to which the borough has already counted the sum of $3250.

9/25/1958 - Mrs. William Good of Ford City RD 2 was elected president of Armstrong Co. United American Cancer Society for the 1953-1959 term. She succeeds Dr. Sidney Sedwick, who served as leader of the Cancer Board for 6 years.
9/25/1958 - Remodeling operations have been completed on the High Hat Restaurant, Market St., according to owner Frank Lazarowicz. The renovation centered on the addition of a dining room and modernization of the kitchen.
9/25/1958 - Ford City- The role of the Red Cross in civil defense was demonstrated last night at the Ford City Eagles Home to a group of 50 registered nurses during a class in mass casualty nursing.
9/25/1953 - East Brady - Residents from throughout neighboring communities in Armstrong and Clarion counties jammed into this Allegheny River town to give a roaring hometown welcome to 3 grinning war heroes, returned after years in North Korean prison camps. Townspeople celebrated far into the night at a dance following a gala banquet. The honored ones were Captain William C. McTaggert Jr., Sgt. Harry R. Fleeger, and Pfc. Floyd R. Wilson.
9/25/1953 - Ford City- Anne’s Flower and Gift Shoppe, 5th Ave., will change ownership Oct. 1. Miss Anne Erkens will assume ownership of the store, purchased from Frank Minarcin, who operated the store for the past 3 years.
9/25/1948 - Apollo hotel damaged by $100,000 fire. 50 guests flee after 4th floor explosion sets off costly blaze. No one injured. Firemen of 4 companies confine blaze to building’s rear.
9/25/1948 - An Armstrong Co. native one is having a big say in what happens to liquor law violators in PA. As Special Deputy Attorney General under a new enforcement system, Attorney Dale T. Lins of Pittsburgh “screens” all cases of violation before they are placed before the PA Liquor Control Board.
9/25/1943 - Washington- Congress today appeared to have abandoned hope of delaying the draft of fathers, and to have turned instead to plans for increasing the living allowance of servicemen’s families.
9/25/1943 - The caboose of a PA Railway work train, which operates between Kiski Junction and Phillipston, was caved in Friday in an accident near the Kittanning-Martin Brick Co. plant at the north end of Kittanning borough. A northbound locomotive crashed into the rear of the work train. The impact virtually demolished the body of the caboose, and caused some damage to a freight car.
