FORD CITY - Reiki Master Susan McClafferty, of Manor Township, will discuss the healing benefits of Reiki, a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation, at noon Wednesday at Ford City
Library. McClafferty began practicing Reiki in 2007 and describes the method as“hands-on-healing.” When giving Reiki, different hand positions are used to direct the flow of life energy over certain points of the body. Reiki is said to help with stress, relaxation, pain, illness and more by eliminating toxins. When a Reiki practitioner channels energy through their hands, natural healing processes of the body begin to restore both physical and emotional well-being. McClafferty says that a Reiki attunement is much like “recharging yourbattery” and that it benefits both client and practitioner at the same time. Reiki is considered a complementary health approach, much like massagetherapy and acupuncture.
