9/20/1968 – WACB local radio announcer Dave Cameron will emcee a two day country music spectacular at the Belmont Arena starting tonight and tomorrow. Some of the bands include: Wayne Hart & His Country Cousins, Kenny Biggs and Tailsmen, Steel Man Joe Tipple, Frankie Grill & Saddie Buddies, Skeets Martin & Dick Clever, Buddy West, Randy Lee & The Travelons, and many more.

9/20/1968 – Robert E. Lucas of 131 Giron Street in West Leechburg has become affiliated as a licensed mortician with the Amberson C. Bauer Funeral Home in Kittanning.

9/20/1963 - Gene Brown of Kittanning RD 1, a graduate of Elderton Joint HS has won 3rd prize in a nationwide competition for HS students, sponsored by the James Lincoln Arc Welding Foundation. Brown’s entry, a wood lathe, was built as an industrial arts project at Elderton under the guidance of his shop instructor, Richard Kaufman.

9/20/1958 - Ford City- Bids for a 300,000 gallon water tank, foundation, and 400 water meters were received by the Manor Twp. Joint Municipal Authority as members continue their progress for a water distribution system in Ford Cliff Borough and part of Manor Twp.

9/20/1948 - PA Railway official ones today announced that the famous Freedom Train will pass thru Kittanning about 3:15 am Tuesday.

9/20/1948 - Members and friends of the Berean Baptist Church, Kaylor, on Sunday afternoon and night observed the 70th anniversary of the erection of the present church building.

9/20/1948 - Dayton- The body of Pfc. Owen Nelson Lawson, WWII soldier who was killed in action on 5 February 1944, near Mt. Cassion, Italy, arrived by train here today.

9/20/1943 - For what may be the first time in the history of Armstrong Co. politics, no contests for the county offices of register and recorder and treasurer will mark the general election balloting in November. Frank M. Rebolt, candidate for reelection as register and recorder, and Robert H. Powers, deputy treasurer seeking election as treasurer, received both the Republican and Democratic party nominations.

9/20/1938 - 53 people are asking final citizenship papers in a hearing to be held in the main courtroom at Armstrong Co. courthouse Saturday morning.

9/20/1938 - 25 members and friends of the Upstreamers Bible Class of the Presbyterian Church braved a heavy Monday night rain to extend annual birthday greetings to Frank M. Shubert, class teacher.

9/20/1933 - With one of the heaviest votes polled in the history of the borough, Kittanning voters on Tuesday registered their wills as to candidates for various offices. Jacob Maxeiner was the successful candidate for burgess, receiving the Republican nomination. For Justice of the Peace, Harry G. Luker was successful; I.D. Doverspike for sheriff; and Floyd C. Jones for district attorney.

9/20/1928 - Mrs. Charles Schaeffer of Gilpin Township died at her home following a recent illness. She is a daughter of Mrs. Cynthia Riggle, who died Thursday of last week and was buried Saturday.

9/20/1928 - Although the barking dogs and chuckles of the cotton pickers are missing, the presentation of the famous “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” on the screen of the Columbia Theatre was enjoyed just as much as ever by appreciative audiences.
